Brandon Gohsman is the new Lending Librarian (O'Reilly liason) as Bill Gathan is leaving us to move with his wife to a warmer latitude (take me too!).

Book Activity:
• Joel Meulenberg: Still has Programming Web Graphics and MySQL & mSQL. Additionally Joel now has Mastering Algorithms with Perl.
• Brandon Gohsman: Now has Developing ASP Components
• Jeff Williams: Now has the Perl CD Bookshelf
• Ed Eddington: Now has Webmaster in a Nutshell
• Paul Tjapkes: Now has Running Linux

Perl Programming Competition/Event Idea

Not a lot of apparent interest in this idea probably because not enough people feel up to the task yet. Please Email Steve Johnson if interested.

An alternative idea of sending out weekly riddles was proposed and this already seems to have been taken up (by Joel and Matt so far) and received fairly well by others. Currently, the first person to correctly answer a weekly riddle gets to come up with the next week's riddle.

Perl Whirl 2000 (cruise)

Looks like heap of learning and fun, but costlier than a typical Perl Tutorials or Open Source conference.

Future Topics, New Ideas, Discussion

Joel M. will be doing something with graphics and perhaps algorithms for October.

Jeff Williams will be doing something with sockets programming for November. (And has cool idea of porting C-Robots to Perl! - Perlbots?)

December will be some kind of mid-month evening social event rather than the usual last-Friday-of-the-month technical luncheon.
