GR Perl Mongers - Meeting Minutes - 26 Feb. 1999
We has three new faces this month, and I believe that two of them are not on our mailing list: Randy of USXchange and Tim of Mcgraw-Hill books. For those who work with them, please get them in touch with our mailing list manager, Joel Meulenberg - JoelMeulenberg@yahoo.com if they desire to become full-fledged members.
http://grand-rapids.pm.org has seen some changes in the past few days. In addition, Ed Eddington of PCR offered to take over as Web Master.
Bill Gathen of USXChange has offered to liason with O'Reilly, and distribute information, books, software, and other goodies as he deems appropriate.
The general conclusion was that attempting to get local colleges to teach perl was not worth the effort - or even counter-productive because it would "lower the bar." Instead, Bill Gathen proposed that we stick perl on a laptop and do a lunch-time session. He is now the project officer of the venture, and we're solicting ideas for details ...

Resolved: Meetings will be held at 11:30 on the 4th Friday of every month. Unless that day falls on a holiday, in which case the holiday will be moved.
The next meeting will be Friday, March 26th at the Pizza Hut on the corner of 44th and US 131.

Seriously, ideas for GR.PM are appreciated. We kicked around ideas for a perl contest and/or perl conference, but have no project lead. Other ideas?
