Miscellaneous Topics

A brief discussion was raised by Tim re: the recent announcement from Transmeta and it's Crusoe processor.  Also discussed was a product call OmniMark, a software package used often in the publishing market.

 
Lending Library

Several books were returned and a couple of new ones made available.

Y2K - Did it even happen?
It seemed that the global 'non-event' had little impact on those at the meeting.  The biggest problem seemed to be a couple of minor issues with JavaScript's getYear function.

 
Future Presentations Discussion

February Meeting:

Steve Johnson agreed to do a presentation on the integration of Perl and mail.

Other suggested topics for future months included:

  • Object Oriented Programming  in Perl (Joel in March)
  • Apache and mod_Perl (Rick in April)
  • Perk/TK
  • Cryptography in Perl
  • An exercise in Open Source developments with "Perl-Bots"
  • The use of the Perl Debugger
  • XML and Perl
